Play The Game

I do not want this picture serves to promote gambling, but for those who like to play roulette, black-jack, etc, I show this photo.
On the Post street is the Gran Casino de Murcia (in the region of Murcia there are 3 casinos). In the heart of the city you can play casino gambling.
I've only been once, to satiate my curiosity. I played roulette, but no luck. I noticed a small amount of money to spend to try my luck. As always in the game I do not have much luck, so I lost the money I bet.
The casino hotel is located in the Rincón de Pepe (4 stars) which has a high quality restaurant (4 forks).

Bullring Of Murcia. Plaza De Toros De Murcia.

This eclectic style building is the Plaza de Toros of Murcia (the bullring of Murcia) and was opened in September 1887.
For this bullring has been many bullfighters and bulls.
I am not in favor of this spanish fiesta, because I do not like seeing an animal suffer, but I'm not against to maintain this kind of festival.
I also have to say that if the matador is good, and the bull is brave, the bull will leave the place unharmed. But if the bullfighter is bad, the bull will suffer.

Street Post. Calle de Correos.

This is another popular streets of Murcia. It is known by all as the Calle de Correos, because until not long ago, at the beginning of this street was the headquarters of Posts and Telegraphs of the State.
Although this street is actually that of Alejandro Seiquer (Murcia painter of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries).
On this street you can find clothing stores, flower shops, cinemas, bars, pubs, ...
In the picture you can see that the street is a bit empty of cars because it's summer. You can also see that there are cars on one side of the road because it is permitted to park vendors. During the first 15 days of the month they can park on one side, and over the next 15 days on the other side.

New Findings

Beside the wall area that I have been showing, it have found new traces.
Every time it makes a new building in the downtown, the construction companies are afraid to appear archaeological remains, as this will greatly delay the building.
But it's the only way to dig up our past.

Inside The Wall 2

Some photos of this piece of history that are its walls of Murcia.
In many places of the city you can find some of these walls. In fact, can be found in a underground parking next to city hall, at an Italian restaurant, a bar under a hotel.
As I say, what little remains of those remains, living with citizens.

Door Of Santa Eulalia Square

12th century
In this plaza was situated the so-called "Puerta de Siete Puertas" (the Gate of 7 Doors) or "Puerta de Orihuela" (the Gate to Orihuela). It was built in the 12th century on the site of an Islamic cemetery, restructured in the 15th century, and demolised in 1868. The remains and history is shown in the Visitor's Center of the City Wall of Saint Eulalia, built in the year 2006. (Source, Municipality of Murcia)
In followings days I will show pictures of the wall inside.

Parish Church Of Santa Eulalia

18th Century.
Construction began in 1753. The facade contains a split and curved, which is characteristic of the architecture of the Eastern part of Spain in that century. Some noteworthy features are the altar and the fake architectures by the painter Paolo Sistori and the image of Santa Rosalía de Palermo by Francisco Salzillo.
It is the site for La Real y Muy Ilustre Archicofradía de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo Resucitado (the Real and Very Illustrious Archconfraternity of our Savior Jesus Christ Revived), which parades on the morning of Resurrection Sunday (Source: Municipality of Murcia)
(click here to see a photo of this Archconfraternity on last Easter Week)
This church is on the neighbourhood of Santa Eulalia.

Tribute To My Grandmother

Tribute to my Grandmother Maria García González.
I do not usually talk about my family and I have never taken any pictures of my family (his face). But I think it deserves the chance to break this rule that I had.
Last Wednesday, August 5, my grandmother died, after nearly 20 days of suffering. (I have just talked about her here)Yesterday we went to bury her.
And as I write these lines, I realize its loss. I am sad, but it is the law of life. But I don't want to leave a sad words in honor to my last grandmother.
I've been lucky enough to know her for 34 years (maybe when I was a baby I do not remember). To define a word that my grandmother is the STRENGTH of (my mother is very similar to my grandmother). She knew how to push his family (5 children) during the post-war (during the dictatorship of General Franco).
My memories of childhood and youth to lead me on Sundays. Almost every Sunday we went to her home, about 20 people in an area of 15 square meters. My grandmother was a great cook.
From here, my goodbye to my grandmother. You will be always in my thoughts.
