General Strike 29-S. Huelga General 29-S
On the day of yesterday, there was a general strike call. This call was made by the main trade unions, because a labor reform made by the Government of Spain. I will not write about the reasons of this strike. The only thing is that the present Government has made a laboral reform in which to promote the hiring of workers, it lowers the dismissal (among other things).
According to data from the unions, the strike has been a success: more than 70%. But employers say it has been a failure: 20%.
In Murcia, the data include: trade unions, 72% employer, 15%.
As always, the data are very different depending on the interests of each.

Today, the Feria de Murcia ends (but not bullfighting) with the pilgrimage of the rise of the patron saint of Murcia to its sanctuary.
Some 600,000 people have accompanied the image of the Virgen de la Fuensanta to the top of the hill, where is her church.
The picture is pretty bad. I have picked up form the TV with the mobile phone. The Patron Saint goes out from the Cathedral.

Feria Of Murcia 2010: 43 International Folklore Festival In The Mediterranean And More
Finally, I found time to post photos again. During these days a lot has happened in Murcia. For example, 43 International Folklore Festival in the Mediterranean, which took place from 6 to 10 September.
The International Folklore Festival in the Mediterranean, held in the city of Murcia, is considered the longest of all festivals held throughout Spain.
During the days when the festival takes place, the city becomes a living stage, through the many activities that are scheduled, such as parades, the power of "the torch of friendship", action, off stage , the choirs and dance groups in different streets and squares, as a way of pleasantly surprising the citizen.
Also, from 3 to 9 September, in his tour around Spain, Football World Cup was in Murcia, which won the National Spanish football team in July. More than 20,000 people came to see the cup. People came to join the queue up to six hours. The schedule, wich was 10 to 13 and 17 to 20 hours, had to expand on some nights until four in the morning.

Entrance to Los Huertos in the garden of El Malecon. Here you can taste the cuisine of Murcia. Until 14 September you can visit this site. The entry is the poster for the Feria de Murcia 2010 (you can see in the picture below). This poster can be seen (at the bottom) several times of these events, using, as background, the Moneo building.
On the Feria de Murcia: "... the celebration goes back to the privilege of Alfonso X, 1266. Originally the fair was strictly business, but was gradually incorporating leisure and holiday activities. And in recent years, the party has exceeded the fair: the time when La Feria in September in Murcia endures through its bullfighting festivals, attractions, concerts, huertos of the Malecon, with barracks for the tasting of typical orchard products and the Wine and Food Show, Festival of Folklore in the Mediterranean, Cattle Fair, Moors and Christians, and so on.
