Another building-monument that it is noteworthy at Aledo, is the Church of Santa Maria La Real.
"Style: Baroque and neoclassical influence.
In the short period besieged Muslim Aledo, the present church of Santa María la Real, was initially a mosque with a single nave and a bell tower.

Castle of Aledo. Torre del Homenaje. Castle Keep.
Declared as BIC (Asset of Cultural Interest).
The Torre del Homenaje from Aledo, being nowadays the symbol of the little medieval town of Aledo, was centuries ago an example of power and defenses of this territory. Onto the former Moorish fortress, Christians erected this singular tower aimed at border watching as well as providing shelter for its population. In the aftermath of the Reconquest of Granada in 1492, the tower lost its strategic importance but after passing through a wide range of usages it is today one of the county's main attractions.
Its square base lies in the middle of the former military site. It has a simple layout including a ground floor, two levels and a terrace. Its current dimensions are: 19.30m high (with its 23 stones of 80 cm each) and 12.90m wide. The tower also includes a mortar platform (or berm) that was meant to level the surface. Aledo.
In the next days, I would like to invite you to know a small town in the Region of Murcia, very charming: Aledo. It is a medieval village.
A little bit of history: "Strategically placed and controlling the valley of the Guadalentín we find Aledo, rich in ceramic and pottery-making tradition, and still maintaining the old arts and use of local natural resources. During the Islamic period (10th century) it was converted into a fortress and held out against Christian forces until the 12th century, when it was taken by troops led by Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, better-known nowadays under the name of 'El Cid'. Aledo is also famous for giving hospitality to King Alphonse X, and it was from here that many of his famous Partidas (Law proclamations) were dispatched." (Source: murciaturistica.com).
Aledo is a town of about 1000 inhabitants.

3 Cups And 1 Tower.
I love this fountain. It is located in the garden of Isaac Peral, but is best known as the garden of the three cups. For some reason.
