Burning Bonfires
Behind this building that seems on fire, it is (or it was) the bonfire of the City of Alicante. Difficult to be there to see it because of the high temperatures that had there.

Elecciones Generales 26J. General Elections 26J.
Six months ago we have to elect our prime minister (well, our congress), but the result was a mixture of political parties that have generated a new general elections because they did not reach any agreement. At this time, the result has not been very clear, so politicians will have to agree to form a government. If not, we will have to vote again.

Bonfires of St John 2016.
While at Spain we celebrate the St John's night (Midsummer night) at 00:00h (GMT+2) of June 24th, at Alicante (80km from Murcia) they celebrate Bonfires of St. John at 00:00h (GMT+2) of June 25th.
I always showed photos from this amazing monuments before they are burned. This time, when they are burning: the magic fire.

Midsummer. St John's Night.
Last night was a magic night. Lots of bonfires were lit around the Spanish coasts to celebrate the St John's night. A pagan fiesta in its origin.

Arab Courtyard
At Royal Casino of Murcia.
Arab courtyard (Patio Árabe), whose spectacular neo-Moorish decor style, work of Manuel Castaños, required more than 20,000 sheets of gold leaf. An inscription in Arabic that reads "Nothing greater than Allah" is repeated along the entire perimeter.
Remember that the building was built at early of 20th century.
This civil building is the most visited in Murcia.

750 Anniversary Concejo Of Murcia
Since May 14th 2016 is held the 750 anniversary of Council of Murcia.
What happened 750 years ago? We must contextualize:
City of Murcia was a Muslim kingdom with agreements with the Kingdom of Castile since 1243 when it was conquered. But in 1266, Muslims in the kingdom, did not want to continue paying taxes to the Kingdom of Castile, so revolted. This revolt was appeased by the King of Aragon, Jaime I "The Conqueror" which came at the request of the Prince of Castile, his son in law, Alfonso who became Alfonso X "The Wise", King of Castile from 1252 till 1284.
On May 14, 1266, Alfonso X granted legal recognition to the council of the city of Murcia. The population was still overwhelmingly Muslim, with some Jews and other Christians who were added gradually. But it was a Christian city and as such would have a governing body to Castilian style, with its own emblem that identified on its seal (to validate documents and correspondence of the Council) and its banner (the banner guiding troops of the Council).
So, from May 14th, 2016 and until next May 14th, 2017, the city of Murcia will celebrate this event.
Official information about this event at 750aniversario.murcia.es. (Only in Spanish).

As Time Goes By. 8th.
I now realize that on June the 4th, this blog turned 8 years. I completely forgot. Time goes by. You can visit previous Anniversaries here.
Today I bring here a photo I found (see below) around the Internet from early of 20th century, from a similar perspective than the picture that I present. The Segura river passing through city of Murcia. The building on the right is the former Hotel Victoria, today is a residential building and commercial premises.
You must remember this A kiss is just a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh. The fundamental things apply As time goes by. About lirics from "Casablanca" movie, click here. If you want to watch on youtube, click here.
I wish you will here next year. Thanks a lot for visiting my blog. And many thanks for leave a comment, I really appreciate all of them. This makes me to continue keeping this blog.

Nature In Process
In August 2015 there was a lightning storm, which produced a large fire in the mountains of Cieza.
Now, the nature resurfaces and the first bushes are covering enough area of what was once the fire.
From this perspective it is not apparent, but there is a canyon (Almadenes canyon) separating the area from where I took the picture, and where was the seat of the fire in the background. Well, the fire crossed the canyon.

It is not a beautiful view.
I usually like to see graffitis, but this is not art, it is vandalism.
It can be read rio Segura (Segura river).
