This is an image of the procession of Christ's forgiveness (a somewhat blurred image). Today Murcia parade by one of the most important processions and parades in which more people: the procession of the "Coloraos" (Real, and ancient most Venerable Arch Confraternity of the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ)

Easter 2010: Palm Sunday.
Yesterday was Palm Sunday, and as is customary in the Catholic community purchased palms. The palms of the image, which are smaller, are those it give gifts to children. The godmother usually buy it to their godchildren.

There's time to use the bike! This is the result of the bicycle lane that is being done at Avenida Juan de Borbon. I suppose, that from here out next winner of the Tour de France. ;)

Bike Line Under Construction
This is one of the newer areas of expansion of the city of Murcia: Avenida Juan de Borbon. This avenue has been amended three times. First, it was a road of two lanes in each direction with one lane of service (in every sense of the via). As produced jams, it was revised to have three lanes. Now, it is changed again to include ways to put the tram in this avenue. Luckily, they have decided to set up (finally) a bike lane.

Take A Break
Friday: last day working week (for some). Take a break, which are already few hours.
Today begins Holy Week in Spain, and many begin a week's holiday today. I will have those days off from next Thursday (inclusive) until the following Tuesday (also included).
In the photo, you can see a sign which says no dogs allowed to do shit in this place (more or less).

Building Facade
This is one of those facades that call my attention.
In the basement of this building, where there is now a gym and a games room, from the '60s through the late 80's had a cinema (Cine Gran Via), which in the early 90's tried to be a nightclub (it is remembered for trying to open a macro New Year's Eve party, after selling all the tickets for 1500 people, it could not openning, and they had to return the money, although not all recovered).

La Cueva. The Cave.
La Cueva (The Cave) is a small village belonging to the Murcian parish of Monteagudo. What is striking is the gravel quarry that is closed since 1968, and seems to be falling on the town.

Father's Day 2010
Today is the Father's Day in Spain. And I could not avoid showing the first gift that my son makes to me. This is a brand pages for the book. Isn't it great?
(The image of my child, I've had to cover because I'm not allowed to show him.)
I've generated the seabed by computer.

Rocks & Sea
Tomorrow is a holiday in many places of Spain (it's party at the Autonomous Communities of Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Autonomous Community of Valencia, Extremadura, Madrid, Galicia, Murcia, Navarra, Basque Country, La Rioja and Melilla).
So, many of the beaches of Levante (the area which is also the Region of Murcia) are filled, especially from Madrid.

Official School Of Languages. Escuela Oficial de Idiomas De Murcia.
The grey building corresponds to the Official School of Languages of Murcia. This is a public language center with official titles in English, French, Arabic, Chinese, German, ... . (Here, the website)
It is located (as you can see from this perspective) next to the cactus roundabout (see photo of yesterday)

The Cactus Roundabout
This is one of the less I like Murcia roundabouts. I don't know what is doing these false cactus in the middle of a very large roundabout which not fill or anything. This roundabout has an underpass, and this surface part is called Square of La Opinión (the name gives them the building of the newspaper La Opinion, which is in this square).

Horse Head
This horse head is only a decoration at the entrance to a bar in the village of Cabezo de Torres (Murcia).
The picture I took with my camera phone. The light, and the poor image capture, it has created a somewhat ghostly image, huh?

The House Of The Nine Floors. La Casa De Los Nueve Pisos.
For many years this building was the tallest of Murcia. In the basement of this building, you can go to eat at the restaurants out there, you can go to have drinks in several of the pub out there.
About this building I can tell you that:
20th century. It was constructed by the architect José Antonio Rodriguez between 1914 and 1942. It was erected over the patio of the former College of the Annunciation, founded by the Jesuits in the 18th century, and which it maintains part of the cloister inside and the entryway of one of the facades. The former building also housed the Royal Factory for spinning and Piedmont silk throwing. (source: Municipallity of Murcia).
This building is located between the garden of nitrate and the San Esteban Palace.

Edificio Alba. Alba Building
This is one of those buildings have always been there (since I can remember I). I think it's the seventies, and it has been remodeled (several times) inside. It's located in the heart of Murcia (but say the center of Murcia, it is very wide), near the El Corte Inglés, in the Plaza Díez de Revenga.

Blog Day: The Tenin Technique
Today marks the fifth anniversary of ParisDailyPhoto. Five years ago started a different way of looking each his own city. This began what is now a large community of citydailyphotobloggers (nearly 1200, are part of this community).
This is my photo tribute to Eric Tenin, and his technique of shooting photos (from ground). Click on image to enlarge (watch photo inside the photo) and see details of the tribute of a Murcian to this Parisian.

Yesterday evening, at last the sky cleared. It misses the sun, after so many days of clouds and rain. The photo: closed barrier before leaving the intersection where the stop sign

Clouds
During these days is going through the Iberian peninsula (and in Europe, I suppose) a storm of cold rain and snow. For example, Catalonia is blocked by snow. It snowed last night in many parts of the Region of Murcia.

Iberians In Murcia
Continuing the theme of yesterday, today I show another image of the Iberians in Murcia.
These weapons and daily utensils of the time so far. What strikes me is the quality of the findings, and which today are produced using machinery of the XXI century .

The Iberian World In Murcia
Inside the Archaeological Museum of Murcia can take a tour of its prehistory to the time of the Visigoths.
Today I will show you a part of history Ibera. The Iberians were the inhabitants of the Mediterranean area of the Iberian Peninsula from the seventh century and the first century BC In fact, the Greeks were (and later the Romans) and those who called these people from this region of Spain.
In the image, votive funeral.

Palacio de San Esteban (St. Stephen Palace)
Building 1555, founded as the first school in the Society of Jesus in Spain. Throughout its history it has played many roles as:
- 1767 Headquarters Company of the Dragon Queen
- 1770 provincial madhouse
In 1931 it was declared historical heritage. Since 1984, this building is the headquarters of the prime ministership of the Region of Murcia.
It is located next to the remains that I showed you two days ago.
Here, its website.

Hailstorm
Yesterday was a sunny day in Murcia, until the afternoon, spent a stormy black cloud that hail left behind.
The first 2 pictures are of the hail cloud after leaving (with a rainbow included). The last photo is a detail of the size of hail on the artificial grass.

Parking Or Preserving History.
After several disputes if they made a new park in downtown Murcia to attract visitors, since in Murcia there is a serious parking problem, and after passing the case through the courts, ultimately, the city of Murcia got to him build the parking permit.
The problem is that when they have to dig (and was what was expected), they have found a neighborhood in the thirteenth century, where a mosque (or so it seems) and a cemetery annex the neighborhood (or so seems). A civic platform, has managed to paralyze the work through a complaint to the court, which ruled to preserve the heritage, as the district council found pretended to dismantle and re-build over the parking lot.
There are still people for and against maintaining these rest instead of building the parking lot.
What do you think?
Here you can see photos taken by this citizens platform.
