Heroes of Cavite

The monument to the Heroes of Cavite and Santiago de Cuba, commonly abbreviated as Heroes of Cavite, is a sculptural group commemorating the Spanish people who died in the Spanish-American War, located in the port of the city of Cartagena (Region of Murcia) and Made in 1923 by the sculptor Julio González-Pola.
The obelisk presents on two opposing fronts the personification of Glory as a woman presenting floral crowns to the martyrs and shield of Spain, under which inscription: "To the heroic sailors of Cavite and Santiago de Cuba, 1898. Honor To the squadrons of Cervera and Montojo". Also in marble we find the names of the officers who died during those battles. (Source: Wikipedia)
