 Echoes from Burial of Sardine 2022.

That picture was taken during morning parade of Burial of Sardine,or before the big parade of that fiesta.

On their hats we can read "Rugby assione italiana". Wearing blue and yellow colours.

 During Burial of Sardine parade we could see many different kinds of music and musicians.

 That drums street music band were offering happiness during last burial of Sardine parade on Saturday morning.

 Each year a new sardine design is put in that Martinez Tornel Square to be burnt at the end of Burial of Sardine festivities (Entierro de la Sardina, Fiestas de Primavera). At Saturday night (last April 23th) was burnt and a big fireworks were launched. A big fiesta for ending that amazing Spring Festival week.

Morning at Burial of Sardine 2022

 During Spring Festival week (at Murcia City), among Bando de la Huerta, it is held another big fiesta: Burial of Sardine (Entierro de la Sardina), that starts on wednesday after Bando de la Huerta anf finished on Saturday night burning a big Sardine (please, visit the following post).

During Saturday morning, a little parade is held from Cardenal Belluga square till Alfonso X avenue. music from different countries and cities), colour, present for children, .. Very funny.

At Saturday night, a very big parade is awaiting and usually, around 1million people are attending throughout the tour.

Tradition Still Continues

This picture was taken on Bando de la Huerta's day. A day for wearing traditional costume.

Please visit "Bando de la Huerta" label to know more about that Fiesta. A fiesta to be enjoyed by locals and foreigners. You are invited for the next Bando de la Huerta (it is not mandatory to wear those traditional costumes).

Bando de la Huerta Parade 2022

 At first Tuesday afternoon after Easter week, it is held a parade where traditions get the streets: costumes, dances, old trades, old vehicles, ...

From up to down:

1.- Horse and tradional customes and dances.

2.- Transport carriages. That were used to transport: cereals, grass for animals, hay for animals, bricks for houses to built, ...

3.- Fresh milk deliverers.

4.- Ox cart.

5.- Three-wheeled motorcycle. For transport. On image: Trimak wheeler. (1959-1974)

6.- Bolos huertanos, literally: orchard bowling, it is a traditional local bowling.

 First Tuesday after Easter week, it is held Bando de la Huerta day, where Murcian people get dress with traditional customes. That festivity is just held at city of Murcia. Streets are getting full of colour since early in the morning till night.

 Every Friday morning on Holy week, Good Friday, that old catholic parade is held. In that case, The Last Supper.

Murcia Easter Week 2022

 After two years, due to pandemic situation, Easter comes as always (more or less).

What Remains of

 A hard exhibition paid my attention: 'What remains of Autschwitz'. The author (Juan Pedro Revuelta) after whatching to the documentary film "Shoah" by Claude Lanzmann, had the necessity to travel to Autschwitz to take the atmophere left on that horror place. Stacked boots, half-burnt clothes, broken glasses, ....

The artist has used the technical: platinumtype. "This ancient photographic procedure obtains monochrome prints by contact on materials sensitized with platinum and iron salts. As Revuelta explains, his decision to work with this technique was motivated by two factors: «The appearance –it resembles human ash and also offers a perfectly matte surface, very ethereal and spiritual– and the durability –it is one of the photographic processes most stable that exist, as well as the memory of the place, which never disappears»" (text from La Razón).

On the image, left, Wilhelm Brasse, who was a prisoner at Autschwitz and a retratist who took more that 50000 pictures from that site.

On that image, all is in B/W but I have left the fire extinguisher in red as symbol to be used to put out any budding flame that starts another fire of hate and anger (not war).

Reset

 The author has used recycled materials as artistic support in the huge mural of the image, using a scenic aesthetic very typical from that artist (Ángel Haro).

A couple of months at Almudí Palace exhibition centre we could enjoy that work.
