New Year's Eve 2011.

Today is the last day of the year. Another year of crisis, and hopefully next year is better than this. Maybe that's one of the requests that people will do during the change of the year. In Spain, desires usually ask for while eating 12 grapes while sounding the 12 stroke of midnight (without choking). The tradition of the grapes began in the early twentieth century.
Another tradition that less time is to bring something red when changing of the year, is said to bring luck. The usual practice is to put red underwear (both men and women), which can be as sexy as the image.
About the image: corsetry El Trébol (The Clover). They make custom lingerie and corsetry for over 60 years. It is located on Platería Street.

Shopping Street

It is not really the name of this street. Its name is Soapmakers Street (Calle Jabonerías). And the whole street is full of shops, especially clothes.
This night will be celebrated on Christmas Eve. Family dinners and gifts, especially for children. The truth is that when I was a child, only received gifts on Twelfth Night, but I think since the 90s, it is usually given away also on Christmas Eve and Father Christmas who does it.

The second was € 1,200,000 per set. It has been distributed 15000 numbers more, so the probability of hitting is less.

Inside The Cathedral: Chapel Of Vélez.

This is one of the great jewels of the Cathedral of Murcia: the chapel of the Vélez. It's worth staying a while looking at the inside of this chapel, and delight in the forms that surround this architecture.
On outside of it, here you can see a post from 2009.
About its history: Its construction began in 1491 and, according to the inscription around the dome was finished on October 15, 1507. It was built as a funerary chapel.
It is built using limestone masonry and covered with a splendid ten-pointed star-shaped vault. The chapel was built by a workshop different from the rest of the cathedral, as evidenced by the mason marks, framed in the last Gothic style. It is not known, however, the name of the author but, by his mastery, the work is comparable to the chapel of the Condestable of the Cathedral of Burgos (source: regmurcia.com)

More than 3 years and 6 months MurciaDailyPhoto project began. It started with the photo of the main facade of the Cathedral of Murcia, the best known monumental building in the city. The photo is from yesterday Saturday. When the day of the match of the local football team comes, all around become a chaos of traffic, although there are several public transport like bus or tram. Views From The Geodesic Vertex.

After all I told yesterday about the geodetic vertices today the best, the views from the top of the mount of the Mine: the valley of Murcia. On the left, the castle of Monteagudo, with the Christ. A little to the right, blue twin towers. Towards the right, the tower of the Cathedral of Murcia. In the foreground, the geodesic vertex.

Geodesic Vertex

A geodesic vertex is a signal / geographical landmark built by engineers to measure the earth. These signs indicate the exact position and are located at the top of the hills, mountains, towers, .. They may also be at ground level or at sea
Its name is given for each vertex does precisely on top of an imaginary triangle with the closest, which in turn form a series of triangles with other geodetic vertices. Each milestone has its own name and has marked the coordinates and altitude compared to sea level.
In this geodesic vertex plate reads: National Geographic Institute. Geodesic vertex. The destruction of this sign is punishable by law.
That phot was taken in the top of the Mine Mountain.
An example of place where this vertex are: here

Game Of Boys: Elisa Seiquer

I've been looking for information about the author of this work, and I've found that it is the sculpture Game of Boys (Juego de Muchachos), by Elisa Seiquer. This artist was born in 1945 in Murcia, died in 1996. Shortly after beginning her studies at the School of Arts and Crafts, she went to Valencia and Madrid, to expand her knowledge. She received a scholarship to study in Paris. In 1972, she received the award in sculpture Francisco Salzillo.
Like most women in all spheres of society, she was not assessed, but today, her work is well recognized.
Here you can see some of her works. The sculpture of the image (early eighties) can be viewed in the garden of the 3 cups (garden of Isaac Peral), in the neighborhood of La Flota, Murcia.

Jellyfishes

Seeing which photo post today, I saw that I still had some photos that I had not seen when I visited the Oceanographic in Valencia.
Jellyfish of the Mediterranean Sea.
I do not know if talking about these beautiful jelly-like animals, of which some species are quite dangerous, or I could comment on Medusa or Medousa, in Greek mythology.
I leave it there.

Church-Museum Of Saint John Of God.

This is the facade of the Church-Museum, San Juan de Dios, which I already mentioned some time ago.
I will just add to what I said in that post, the following:
"Muslim Alcazar (walls, oratory and pantheon)
The ground floor of the set allows us to discover the archaeological remains of the old Moslem fortress and the wall of 30 meters in length, which belonged to the defensive line of Alcazar Mayor of the city.
It is an area of great historical value which have preserved the interesting remains of an arch or mihrab oratorio, with its original polychrome decoration, as well as a real or rawda pantheon, with nine graves tumular structure attributable to the family the ruler Ibn Mardanis, known as the 'Wolf King' (1147-1172)." Café Del Sol

It's a little contradiction, Café del Sol (Sun's Cafe), while there are dark clouds in the background.
In the heart of the city, the nightlife centre of Murcia, is the Café del Sol, where you can enjoy tapas and a drink. Installed on the terrace of the Plaza de Europa (Europe Square). Perhaps one of the ugliest squares in Murcia (too much cement and concrete). But it is in the centre of the city, very close to the university of Murcia (campus of Murcia), restaurants and cinemas (well, only a movie theater, but the best).

Inside Teatre

Disco Teatre, is a place to spend the weekend nights (and the week nights). What I like is the design. It's like a theater. The seating area is the dance area and the area of boxes, is that, box seats, VIP area with exclusive entrance.
During the week, seating area turns into a cabaret, with tables to dine, have drinks and watch shows: stand-up comedy, variety, music hall, flamenco, ... Some Sundays are special events like the matinee, Burleske.
The bad thing is the average age nights on Fridays and Saturdays (between 21 and 24 years), and also the quality of some drinks, because well-known brands, they put re-filled bottles.

Abenarabi Or Ibn Arabí

This is the avenue Abenarabi. It's just an excuse to talk about Abenarabi or Ibn Arabi:
"The streets of Murcia viewed born to one of the most important Muslim mystics, Abenarabi, the great thinker and poet of Al-Andalus.
The twelfth and thirteenth centuries were shaken politically, with the reconquista and the crusades. Is the time of Al-Andalus and the empire of the Almohades, constituting one of its greatest regarding our character, a thinker who in works such as The Names of God laid the foundations for a new worldview rooted in the individual approach to divinity through study and prayer, a mystical, or search for union with God, which centuries later would drink San Juan de la Cruz and Santa Teresa de Jesus. "(Source: Región de Murcia Digital)
More on this Sufi mystic, philosopher, poet, traveler and Andalusian Muslim wise man in wikipedia.
The person who designed the streetlights of that street introduced those half moons in honor of this distinguished Murcian.
