The facade of the convent church of La Merced, 1713, is a transposition of the naturalist decorativism interior of this church, typical of the works of the century, the continuation of schemes of the previous century.
The facade of the church has a curious legend of the special Virgin Mary who presides (she has twisted neck, being the stone representation of the popular Virgin of Remedies). It is said that a girl received a promise of marriage from a gentleman who went to war and when he returned he refused to keep his word. She, in the absence of witnesses brought him to the door of the Church of La Merced where he had pledged his word, and confirm that he had not promised anything, the Virgin of the facade shook her head denying, leaving her face artificially shifted to the left as we see today.

It is possibly the first commercial centre of Murcia. It was built in the eighties, and there are offices, shops, restaurants, clinics, cinemas, discotheques (or nightclubs, although this word has a different meaning in spanish).
It is in General Gutierrez Mellado Street, corner of Puerta Nueva.

Child's Play (or Ave Maria Gratia Plena)
I had doubts with the title of the photo, it could have been "Pied Piper With Bubbles."
The photo was taken in Santo Domingo square, near the Church of the saint who gives the square its name.

Traffic Collision
This vehicle collision occurred Saturday at the Murcia-Cartagena motorway. I do not know how it came about, nor whether there were wounded, but in the picture, the car is perpendicular to the direction of the truck / lorry.
On the occasion of this post, I want to comment that last year in Spain, again down the number of fatal accidents on the roads. The figures are around the 1400 victims, and that data are situated at the level of the year 1961. At that time Spain had one and a half million vehicles. Today there are 31 million.

Unexpected Twist
A few days ago, I walked with my children, and we passed in front of this revolving door. I told my oldest son (four years) to enter, and he was amazed to see that the door turned. The moment was a bit of Charlie Chaplin, because all we did was turn.
The revolving door of the picture, is the entrance to a bank in Trapería street. The bank is in the House-Palace of the Pagan (Casa-Palacio de los Pagán).
As for the story of the door, the only thing is that these types of doors were invented to prevent robberies, as thieves would have to go into with their weapons raised or elevated.

Dome Of The Museum-Church Of San Juan De Dios.
In the center of the dome, ten small windows, four of which allow light to pass through the outside, and the other six that look like they are closed, are painted, that is, real illusions.
Below and between the spaces of the ribs of the dome, there are ten medallions with scenes from the life and miracles of San Juan de Dios.
More about this Museum-Church, here.

Incongruous
This photo was made before the end of 2011 (at Traperia Street). In fact, it has that poster removed, and now there's a picture of a forest.
Why be removed it? What does it say the ad? "The 1st savings bank founded in the Region has been considered the most efficient in Spain."
As it turns out, that savings bank was intervened by the Bank of Spain in the month of July.
Now, CAM has been bought by Banco Sabadell.

In other Spanish cities (in the big cities) I have seen this type of ad men, but this is the first time I see them in Murcia.
What is advertised? "I buy gold" ("Compro Oro") This type of business, the purchase of gold has proliferated greatly during the crisis.

A Night Of Illusion.
The next night is the Twelfth Night. A night of illusion (especially for children of each house). Next to the Christmas tree, next to the window, next to the crib, clean shoes are left in each of the inhabitants of the house, and there, the Wise Men left the gifts that each request. If you have not been good, will bring you coal (sweet).
In the picture, nativity scene. This crib I recommend you to visit if you come at Christmas to Murcia. This arrangement is made by the huertano association "La Pava" each year. It shows the folklore of Murcia, along with the Christmas passages from the Bible.
You can see it in the church of San Juan de Dios.

Best Photo Of The Year 2011. Happy New Year!
Today begins a new year: 2012. Happy New Year!
The year begins at CityDailyPhotoCommunity choosing the best picture last year. This red-dragonfly is perhaps, for me, one of the best pictures I made in 2011 (I took it in August 2011). It is difficult to choose between more than 226 photos I posted (well, actually about twenty would meet the standards of good pictures).
Click here to view thumbnails for all participants
Despite having to choose one as best of the year, then I leave with I have chosen as my photos of each month:
- Jan.: Church Of St. Peter, And Castle. Iglesia De San Pedro Y Castillo. Calasparra.
- Feb.: Highway To H... or this other pic.: February 2011 Theme Day: Fountains
- Mar.: March Theme Day 2011: Your Favorite Part Of Town
- Apr.: Easter Sunday 2011 or Good Friday 2011
- May: Solidarity Football Match For Lorca. or Pregnant And Cathedral
- Jun.: Fly Free!
- Jul.: Sunset In San Pedro
- Aug.: (that was a very good month for taking pictures) Full Moon At The Beach; Icarus; or August 2011 Theme Day: Postcard-Worthy
- Sep.: September 2011 Theme Day: Perspective
- Oct.: October 2011 Theme Day: Mystery Object
- Nov.: Views From The Geodesic Vertex.; Escape From The Car Park; or Avant-Garde Architecture (at Valencia)
- Dec.: Inside The Cathedral: Chapel Of Vélez; or Football Days
If you've taken a look at the photos chosen each month, you can tell me which is what you liked best in 2011.
From here I invite you to continue visiting MurciaDailyPhoto during 2012, where will reach the 1000 photos (in about 50 photos) and it will be 4 years old in June.
