La Manga Go-Kart

Just before arriving to La Manga, there is this go-kart track: La Manga Gokart.
If you like driving these small cars, this is a good place to do it.
But what I like about this picture is to have captured some of the islands of the Mar Menor.

Cape Palos Lighthouse History. Historia Del Faro De Cabo De Palos.

Yesterday I told many things about Cabo de Palos. Of course I failed to mention the lighthouse. Built at the end of the mountain of volcanic origin, and over the  same cape. It was launched for the first time in January 1865. Guide its light to about 50000 ships each year, a light that reaches 40 kilometers. It has witnessed numerous shipwrecks.

Cape Palos Port. Puerto de Cabo de Palos.

Cabo de Palos (Cape Palos) (the population and geographical location) is located in the southeastern of the Region of Murcia, about 75 kilometers from the city of Murcia, and about 30 kilometers from the city of Cartagena. It is just before the Manga del Mar Menor.
Cabo de Palos is a fishing village of origin. Its port is still mostly fishing.
Currently developing a tourism activity: diving and gourmet cuisine. Since 1995, its coastline to Islas Hormigas (Ant Island), is marine reserve protected, and has one of the seabed better care, and better for diving (in Europe and Spain), for their great diversity, and the ability to dive to see large sunken shipwrecks (like the SS Sirio. Here a documentary film). There are numerous diving schools around Cabo de Palos. Highly Recommended. (Here a map of the shipwrecks sunked in that area) (Also, some photos of the seabed and the sunken shipwreks in the area).

Murcia's Town Square

The Plaza Mayor (The Town Square). In the absence, the city of Murcia, with no square in the style of the Castilian towns during the Middle Ages, an attempt was made to the Santa Catalina square fulfill that role until, in recent years of the twentieth century, this square was built receiving that designation. (Source: murcia.es)
This square is surrounded by restaurants (pizzerias, Murcian cuisine, seafood, ...)

Heroes

The Monument to the Heroes of Cavite and Santiago de Cuba (Cartagena) was made, by public subscription as a tribute to the sailors who died in the battle of 1898 between Spain, its colonies of Cuba and the Philippines and the United States allied with them. It was inaugurated on November 9, 1923. The construction of 15 meters, represents the glory and the Spanish nation, along with the sailors who died in the war with figures carved in bronze but were originally of stone, which caused the passage of time deteriorate . In addition to sculptured figures also include the names of all those who died fighting in that war disaster.
In one of the groups of sculptures of this monument, four figures, a sailor standing armed with a gun holds her head high in defiance and defense of the bodies of those who lie fallen. The body of an officer, dead, rests on the barrel in his left hand holding the flag of the vessel. Another of the sailors fell at the precise time of preparation of the load and the last figure lies a sailor dead, which represents the ship's deck.
Cartagena is the headquarters of the Marine Corps. It is the world's oldest Marine, established on February 27, 1537 by Emperor Charles V.

Narrow Streets.

In the city of Murcia, in the old town, the streets are usually narrow, medieval legacy. The church at the background I think is the parish of San Miguel.
Surely the residents of both buildings can maintain talks from their windows, without whastapp.

St. Nicholas Church. Iglesia De San Nicolás.

The parish of St. Nicholas is one of the main monuments of the city of Murcia, not only for its architecture but for its valuable artistic heritage, with major works within the altarpiece, sculpture and silverware. Its historical importance is manifested in its antiquity and have been the main building of one of the most central districts of Murcia, where Murcian noble families lived in palaces and mansions of St. Nicholas Street.
The church of St. Nicholas is a beautiful example of baroque architecture of the eighteenth century . It is built on an earlier church that was built, as usual, on a mosque that stood by the Muslim wall of the city. There were numerous Islamic religious centers that were the basis for subsequent settlement of churches, as well as the Cathedral. St. Nicholas appears and enumerated as one of eight parishes existing in Murcia in 1272.
Although this church was re-built in the eighteenth century.
All about this church, here (Spanish)

Panoramic Elevator

There are several ways to get to the top of that mountain where you can visit the Parque Torres (with auditorium), and the Castle of the Concepción. And of course, see the best views of Cartagena. You can do: by car (although a few meters after, the road is blocked and there are few places to park), walking, or using the panoramic lift. This elevator has won several design awards.

Chimney Port

Continuing the theme of the chimneys that started in the Theme Day, today this chimney in the port of Cartagena. I don't know the use for that chimney, but I posted the photo because I like the composition of the verticality of the chimney with the grandeur of the mountain. Also by the verticality of the crane which increases the  the greatness of chimney.
