Murcian Paprika. Pimentón de Murcia.

The pepper was introduced in Spain from America, at the end of the XV century or at the beginning of the XVI. The first pepper mill in the Region that is known dates back to the 18th century. Throughout the nineteenth century and up to the mid-twentieth, the cultivation of peppers for paprika was extended to occupy 80% of the farmers of the time in the Vega River Segura.
The pepper industry as such has its origin in hydraulic mills, mainly dedicated to grinding cereals.
In 1950, a young inventor, Jesús Alcantud, created an innovative machine that modernized the old installations, applying pneumatic translation, cleaning and mechanical seed extraction systems.
He made grinders series with his own patent, of which can be found in the world about a thousand units.
Since April 2001 there is the Denomination of Origin of Pimentón de Murcia.
The Denomination of Origin Pimentón de Murcia applies to the product that results from grinding totally red peppers of the genus Capsicum Annum L, variety "Bola", grown in the Region of Murcia.

The Cradle of Canned

The Region of Murcia is considered the cradle of tinned foods /canned foods at Spain.
In 1897, the first company that manufactured canned goods in the Region of Murcia was stablished at Alcantarilla (currently, the multinational company Hero, has a processing plant in this town, since 1922). The greatest moment of splendor would come in the 80s.

Relaxing with a Coffee

Is it an antagonism? It said that coffee is a stimulant drink, because of caffeine. But, with the early morning sun, in an incomparable setting like the Cathedral Square (Cardinal Belluga Square), then, it relaxes me.
The coffee brand in the image is a Murcian coffee brand. Highly recommended.

Horses on the River

Theoretically, according to the City Council of Murcia, these horse sculptures are to direct the eyes of the citizens towards the Segura river, and to make it more protagonist.
On the other hand, it is said that it is a reminder of when, decades ago (or a century ago), the horses went down to drink in the river. Well, who knows.

March'17 Theme Day. Black and White in Colour.

This month, the Theme Day is very funny. A picture in colour that it seems in B/W.
This picture is from Carnival 2017 at Cabezo de Torres, a parish from Murcia. Some girls dressing up as Michael Jackson. I thinks that is like a black and white photo.
The second one, the same picture as B/W. Enjoy it.
