Snow at Northwest
For many visitors to this blog, seeing snow is not unusual. For those who live in the Region of Murcia is something extraordinary, due to the latitude, and the influence of the Mediterranean.

Medina Siyasa. How did they Live?
As I mentioned in the previous post, about 20 houses have been excavated, but more than 700 have been recorded. Some 4,000 people lived here from the first presences in the 11th century to their maximum of explendor in the 12th and 13th centuries
In the excavated part you can walk through its streets and see how they could live there.
These houses were constructed with a great extension but they had to be restructured by reason of the population growth, showing most of the excavated a structure of four habitacles that surrounded a central patio. With the increase of the population, the space to build was decreasing and thus the size of the dwellings.
This arrangement helped in the way of life of the Muslim family during the Middle Ages in which their rich daily life was conceived in the interior of their dwellings, in the intimacy of their members, without showing anything to the outside. Due to this, there are hardly any signs of windows open to the busy streets of the town.
In the picture you can see, from the interior of the house, how it was distributed, with the rooms around the central courtyard, which in this case also had a small pond.
And the views, spectacular.

Medina Siyasa. A Trip to the Past.
The city of Medina Siyâsa (at Cieza, Region of Murcia) is the most important archaeological site in Islamic decoration of Europe, and is one of the most important archaeological sites of the Iberian Peninsula
It is an uninhabited 11th century, which had its greatest splendor in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries.
As it was abandoned, what can be seen, on this side of the mountain, is that the inclement weather and time, buried this rural city that is at the foot of the Alcazaba.
Some 20 houses have been discovered and unearthed so far, out of the 700 houses that were built according to different texts of the time.

Jannuary 2017 Theme Day. Best Photo of the Year.
First of all: Happy New Year. I wish you a healthy 2017.
As usually, the first Theme Day of the year starts with the Best Photo from last year.
I took this picture last june 2016. I have selected because of its brightness and because it is the first time that I have ever taken in that way.
Anyway, it is so difficult to choice only one picture of 260 that I took last year. Therefore, I have selected a phot of each month so that you can choose, if you think it appropiate, or if you want to revisit them.
- January: 3D Over Moneo, a composition of a projection over a building.
- February: Against Terrorism, a shocking monument at Cartagena.
- March: Father's Day 2016, a view of three generations.
- April: Sunbathing Platform and Sunbathing, two views from the "same" place (very difficult to choice).
- May: Child's Play, a beautiful moment of a boy playing at the shore of the beach.
- June: Star Ceiling, at Royal Casino of Murcia. But I would like also that you visit: Fireworks At Bonfires Of St John 2016.
- July: Old Bridge in a Summer Night, no comments to add.
- August: An Owl is Coming, taking a picture just in the right moment.
- September: Awesome Wakeboarding, this could be selected for the Best Photo.
- October: Tea Time, I have to select one of the B/W picture that I have posted last year.
- November: Four Seasons Garden, a beautiful perspective of a beautiful place.
- December: Portman Bay. Starts a new future? A hopeful landscape.
