Experimental Lake.

This artificial lake is in the Parque Tecnológico de Fuente Álamo (Technology Park). Experiments done in this lake are for testing sonar. These tests are performed by the Naval and Sea Technology Centre (Centro Tecnológico Naval y del Mar).

Abderraman II

Statue tribute to the founder of the present Murcia (in 825 AD). Not to extend much history, Abderraman II succeeded his father Hakam I. He became the fourth Umayyad emir of Al-Andalus (at Cordoba). To avoid conflicts in Tudmir Cora (southeast Spain) decided to build the city of Murcia (Mursiya). Abderrahman II encouraged the sciences, arts, agriculture and industry. Mursiya, eventually became the best walled city at the west, said the Arab travelers.

Bougainvillea

This bougainvillea, with fuchsia flowers (although they are not really flowers, but modified leaves), is at the Chinese Garden.

XIII Murcia Three Cultures Festival

These days we have Murcia Three Cultures Festival. It is the thirteen edition. It is an international festival for tolerance. The name of the festival is given by the three religions that lived and live in Murcia: Jewish, Muslim, Christian.("A call for tolerance, peace and respect among peoples that recalls the harmony with which Christians, Jews and Muslims lived together, for over 800 years in the Mediterranean.")
In this incomparable setting such as Belluga Square, in front of the main facade of the Cathedral of Murcia, a Portuguese group played yesterday: Aduf & José Salgueiro and José Peixoto.
This festival is a festival of music, dance, exhibitions, conferences.

I do not know if for sport, or starvation, but there are more people coming down the river to fish.

Pedestrian Iron Bridge

In addition to Iron Bridge, this bridge is known as New Bridge. The plaque reads: "Society For Railway and Construction Material. Barcelona. 1900" (not very new, but what was once, when there was only one bridge over the Segura River.
A story that happened about 20 years. It was early morning when I saw two soldiers challenging each other. The challenge was to cross the bridge, side to side, but uploaded to the top of the bridge, from the same plate. In the end they crossed.

Cartagena City Hall

This is the City Hall of Cartagena. It was built between 1900 and 1907. It Modernist style. Between 1995 and 2006, underwent a thorough restoration, since it threatened ruin.
Triangular shaped building with different facades. Eclectic building, somewhat Frenchified, to highlight the official character of the building. The modernist style is manifested in the paintings and decorative details of the noble vestibule area and the first floor.

With a week of heat we've been (almost every day at 30 ° C at noon), it does fancy going to the beach during the weekend.

Carlos III Stairway

The staircase of the Wall of Carlos III was reopened to the public after more than seven months of work due to bad condition of the structure, which forced to demolish the steps to re-build following the original model of Victor Beltrí on 1914.

Mariano Montesinos Garden

In the neighborhood of San Andrés, garden area next to the bus station where we find trees like Olive, jacaranda or plane tree. There is also a playground.

Delegation Of The Defense

This was, for many years the headquarters of recruitment for obligatory military service. Here was where they was passed the first medical examination. Here they are weighed you, measured you.
I went through here in 199*  to avoid military service. In the end I got several extensions for studies until December 2001, when this conscription system was abolished by another professional.
This place is still a recruitment site (now voluntary), and is also the administrative department of the armies that are in the Region of Murcia. It is located at: General San Martín, st.

Too Hot For May.

Yesterday, despite being in the month of May, was a very hot day in Spain. In Murcia we exceed 30 degrees Celsius (and we're still in spring). Good day for sailing.

Yesterday was a happy day for MurciaDailyPhoto. It was the day that has had more followers. They may not be many visits to the vast majority of blogs, but for MuDP is a success: almost 1000 visits according to statistics from Google, the vast majority, 887, visited Happy Mother's Day 2012. Thank you very much to all who have visited for the first time MurciaDailyPhoto (I hope you come back to visit this blog), and for that you visit regularly: a thousand thanks.

Air Aces

It is not any aerobatics, nor in any aerial exhibition. They are only 2 commercial flights as seen from land appear to be close together.

We Are Lorca. Somos Lorca. Earthquake One Year After.

Today I do not publish any photos. Only the logo for solidarity: WeareLorca (SomosLorca). After a year (a year ago from today, the fatal earthquake that occurred in Lorca, Region of Murcia), all it has done is to remove the debris. 1200 homes have been demolished, nearly 8000 people are still unable to return to their homes. Now, only 5 houses have begun to rebuild, but have recently been approved 180 licenses for reconstruction. A year and Lorca's neighbors have seen that both the Government of Spain as the Government of the Region of Murcia, have delayed the money. It will be the crisis.
I hope now the formalities are faster.

Courthouse

This is the building of Courthouse of Murcia. Well, the old building, because here you can see the new one. However, in this building is centralized most of the justice of Murcia: Superior Court, the Civil and Criminal Court, Minors' Prosecuting Office, and so much more. It is located on Paseo de Garay.

On Sunday, from this bus stage, put an end to the SOS 4.8 Festival.
This year there were 65000 people to see the concerts.

Today, we celebrate Mother's Day. In Spain, this day takes place the first Sunday of May. Here you can see a list of the days in which the world celebrates this day, and why.

SOS 4.8 2012

V Edition of the SOS 4.8 Festival (from 4 to 5 of May). It's been 5 years of this festival of art, discussions, and above all, music. This year 64 bands will perform in 48-hour festival. Highlight two groups:  Pulp (the only concert in Spain), and Gossip.

Sheep On The Road

It is not really transhumance what these sheep are doing, because they don't change of territory from one seasoncold to another warm. These sheep, and many others herd, do ecological work, because shepherds carry to fields (near where its stable) where weeds have grown and sheeps eat them, leaving the bare ground to cultivate.

May Day 2012

Yesterday was held on International Workers' Day. One day that was born on May 1st 1886 in Chicago, when 200,000 workers went on strike for eight hours of work (at that time, the limit was 18 hours). While almost everyone is still celebrating the May 1 in the USA becomes the first Monday in September, since when was institutionalized May 1st, the U.S. rulers thought it best not to remember the riots.
Yesterday, protesting the new labor reform of the current government of Spain, also the cuts in health and education, and the changes that affect to retirees.

May 2012 Theme Day: Bakeries.

Today is the sweetest Theme Day (I think) of all those that have been done so far.
A couple of weeks played yet another game of the century: Barça-Madrid. And the bakeries, take advantage to make sweets about that football match.
