Main Facade Of Cathedral Of Murcia

Detail of the main facade of the cathedral of Murcia.
Baroque facade is one of exceptional beauty and monumentality unique. East to West, was projected as a stone altar at the open square of the Town as commissioning and the Cardinal Belluga performed Jaime Bort. Is entirely devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary, head of the temple, she also appeared in countless effigies of saints and martyrs linked to the Diocese of Cartagena, many of them were done by the French and imaging Dupar Antonio. It has three doors: two sides (the San Jose Hall and the San Juan ) and the central Puerta del Perdón (door of forgiveness) call (which can be opened with great solemnity of the occasion). Hire Style: Manterola Bridge And Cathedral Of Murcia.

This is undoubtedly a great contrast. The modernity of the Manterola bridge, and the history of what endures: the Cathedral of Murcia. The river, the Segura. The river that joins the two parts of the city.

Cardinal Belluga Square

Image of the Cardinal Belluga Square, from the Cathedral.
On the left, Episcopal Palace. In the background, Moneo building.
Most of the Murcian we get annoyed when the council of Murcia decided that this building was built. That building was built in 1998.
Break all the aesthetics of the square, where there are two important monument-buildings.
In this building are part of the offices of the municipality.

Promenade Of The Alfonso X "El Sabio"

From the statue of King Alfonso X "the Wise "can be seen throughout the passage that bears his name.
This place has been a place of reunion and tour. Since the late nineteenth century until the 60s of the twentieth century, this trip was known as the "tontódromo" ("sillydromun")(Murcian many still called it that way) because it was the place where young women on the one hand and Men on the other, they would know, holding hands, and always supervised by an adult. They were strolling up and down this boulevard.
How times have changed.

The Wise King

Today I show you another perspective of the statue to King Alfonso X El Sabio

jueves, 7 de mayo de 2009

Alfonso X "El Sabio". Alfonso X "The Wise".

In this Castilian monarch highlighted two main aspects: its contribution to the formation of culture and contemporary European legislation and its implementation thereof determined in our land.
Laid the foundations of society Murcian current, and was the Spanish monarch with the link to Murcia.
His relationship with this area began in 1243, when the then Prince Don Alfonso led the Spanish army in its occupation of the Muslim kingdom of Murcia. (Source: regmurcia.com)
This statue is located on avenue of Alfonso X El Sabio since 2005 or 2006.
In the Cathedral of Murcia are the remains of the heart and bowels of the King Sabio, by his wish, as Murcia has always been loyal to the king.
