As elsewhere in Spain, New Year's Eve day, marathons and half marathons are run. In Murcia, was the afternoon of New Year's Eve. Although there were more spectators than participants.

Here such events will be held in summer, never on a New Year's Day, though we do get what are called polar bear dips for charity, involving jumping into very cold bodies of water.
