The origin of this door (in the MUBAM, Murcia) is linked to the fortune-teller Mari Chaves, a Judaizing witch of Portuguese origin, sentenced to the stake with her brother by the Inquisition tribunal in 1720.
At the door you can see elements ranging from Eastern, Persian, Greco-Roman and Judeo-Christian antiquity, the fantasy of the medieval bestiaries and the world of the oneiric, atavistic and esoteric of different traditions, all passed through the sieve of the Renaissance.
On the Door, there are different motifs from the Late Middle Ages, from the vegetal decorativism that invades all the figures to the different repertories derived from the bestiary, as well as from different images of exotic and bizarre roots.
