Alongside the main building of the Museum Of Fine Arts Of Murcia (MUBAM)is this facade which is of the ancient Palace of Silk Weights, which housed the beginnings of the museum of fine arts in the early nineteenth century.
The facade is baroque.
Another facade is preserved (of the same palace) in the same enclosure that serves as a facade of the building of temporary exhibitions.

Until the mid-twentieth century, Murcia was a major producer of silk. In fact there is still the building of the sericulture station in Murcia (1892) from where they were studying and spread improvements in the production of silkworm and hence the silk. Today this sericulture hosts IMIDA (Murcian Institute of Agricultural and Food Research).
