Who said size doesn't matter?

This is one of the two Vickers cannons at the Cenizas Battery. 17 meters of steel stretching into the distance. Capable of launching 900 kg of iron ore 35 km away. A 381 mm cannon.

Today, it's simply the most imposing viewpoint in Cartagena.

Sometimes, a photograph needs a witness for the mind to grasp reality. You can read that this Vickers cannon has a 17-meter barrel, but you don't truly feel it until you see a man standing next to its imposing silhouette, etched against the endless blue of the Mediterranean Sea.

It's a visual reminder of our own fragility in the face of the machines we build to protect ourselves... or to destroy us.

Being there, atop the Cenizas Battery, with the Cartagena coastal wind in your face and this iron giant as your only companion, is an experience no screen can replicate.

If you're looking for the horizon, look for it here.

Have you ever been to a place that made you feel so small and, at the same time, so alive?
