Holy Monday in Murcia: The Magenta Colour and "The Arrest"
In the Archconfraternity of Forgiveness, one of the most striking floats is "The Arrest," a sculptural masterpiece carried by 28 bearers whose origins date back to 1600 (the year of the fraternity's founding), inherited from the old silk guild. It is a unique visual spectacle where a torch with real fire illuminates the float, while the penitents maintain the generous Murcian tradition of distributing sweets, hard-boiled eggs, and "monas" (Easter cakes) to the public.
For the international visitor, Holy Week in Murcia breaks the mold: it is a museum that is experienced with all five senses.
