From Figs to early Figs
There's a popular saying we use to describe something that happens very rarely, but the biological reality of bifera fig trees is a spectacle of nature. We're right in those magical days of the year when the tree works at two different speeds.
The image shows some small green figs (higos), which will need time to ripen, until August. However, other fig trees are producing brevas (early figs in Spanish), which are simply the figs that didn't ripen last autumn and remained dormant over winter, and which can now be harvested in May.
