*Alejandro Seiquer (1850-1921) was a Murcian painter. "He began his studies at the Murcia Economic Academy and around 1875 started working as a draftsman for the Ministry of Public Works. Later, he went to the studio of Carlos de Haes in Madrid, where he met the Zabálburu family, who awarded him a grant to complete his training in Paris. He remained in Paris for eight years and won a prize at the 1878 Universal Exposition. Upon his return that same year, he settled in Murcia and from there sent paintings to the National Fine Arts Exhibitions. In 1884, he won a third-class medal for his painting "Cows in the Meadow," and he won the award again in 1895 with "On the Edge of the Precipice." Specializing in animal and landscape paintings, his work shows the influence of the Impressionists and the French painter Rosa Bonheur." (Source: Museo del Prado)
