175 Years of Tradition: Spring Bursts Forth in Murcia
Murcia welcomes the Spring Festival (Spring Festivities) with a fireworks display in Plaza Circular (Circular Square). This year marks the 175th anniversary of both the Bando de la Huerta (a traditional festival) and the Burial of the Sardine (Entierro de la Sardina). The colorful fireworks, painting the sky, signal not only the opening of the Spring Gardens but also the return of the Barracas (traditional festival tents), where the Murcia cuisine takes center stage.
This is the start of a vibrant week of joy and community spirit, from the grand opening firework display to the burning of the sardine. It's the perfect time to enjoy paparajotes (a traditional Murcian dessert), michirones (a bean stew), or a rice dish with rabbit (Murcian paella style) at "Barracas", until April 12th.
