Bando de la Huerta 2026: The huertan* tide floods the streets.
The Bando de la Huerta is much more than a parade: it's the ultimate expression of Murcian identity, where the entire city transforms into a giant traditional Murcian gathering. The streets, from the Gran Vía to the most central gardens, are filled with a sea of color, where refajos (embroidered, sequined, or plain), lace mantillas, and zaragüelles (wide linen trousers) take center stage. On April 7, 2026, Murcia proved that its festival is universal, uniting lifelong Murcians with visitors who, to "feel like one of them," dress in regional attire to fully experience the festivities.
*Huertan: it's a made-up word that in Spanish is "huertano" and it could mean "gardeners".
