The Big Parade of Burial of Sardine 2026. 175th Anniversary. Fire, Mythology, and Millions of Toys
The Grand Parade on Saturday night (April 11th) is pure energy. Murcia transforms into a stage of epic proportions where the 23 sardine-themed groups unleash their full force. Gigantic floats dedicated to Apollo, Bacchus, Poseidon, and the rest of the Olympian gods advance through a sea of people, while dance troupes from South America and Europe fill the air with music and color.
But what makes this parade truly unique is the massive distribution of gifts: thousands of balls, plush toys, and plastic swords fly through the air, creating a collective euphoria that can only be experienced here. Everything culminates at midnight with the Burning of the Sardine in front of the Old Bridge, with the scent of gunpowder as the final memory of this unforgettable spring festivities. It's the perfect ending to this 175th anniversary.
