Palm-lined Path to the Alcázar*: The Paths of the Wolf King in Monteagudo

From this perspective, traversing paths flanked by rows of palm trees evokes the splendor of 12th century medieval in Murcia during the reign of Ibn Mardanis, as known as the "Wolf King". On horseback, imagining the passage of his court amidst irrigation canals and cultivated fields, one catches a glimpse of the proud silhouette of the Monteagudo fortress complex in the distance.

That Andalusi court transformed this area into a strategic center of power and palatial life. Framed by the outline of palm trees and the imposing presence of the castle atop its rocky outcrop, the route transports the traveler to an era of cultural coexistence and architectural sophistication, where the landscape of the fertile orchards and defensive strongholds wove together the identity of the Kingdom of Murcia.

*An alcázar is a palace or a fortress.
