Narrow Streets. The Legacy of the Medieval Past.
This photo of Aurora Street perfectly encapsulates the medieval legacy we inherit: narrow, steep, and winding streets that originated in the Islamic medina.
Located in the heart of the old town, this street is famous for its historic Arco de la Aurora (Arch of the Aurora). It was erected in 1767 as a street shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary, with the aim of illuminating and providing security to what was then a dark and narrow area. It's a corner steeped in tradition that reflects the historical pulse of Murcia.
