The origins of the firm Benito y Cía date back to the 19th-century metallurgical tradition. It established itself as a leading foundry in northern Spain, specializing in iron casting and the production of urban infrastructure, piping systems, and fire hydrants. Operating out of industrial hubs like Bilbao, the company supplied municipal equipment to countless Spanish cities for generations, adapting its designs to modern durability standards (such as EN 124) before the historic Bilbao-based firm finally ceased operations in 2013, leaving behind a legacy that remains part of the urban landscape.
