The Walnut Tree's Secret
It is the first time when walking across the Segura river valley I find a walnut tree (or, it seems that it is). Indeed it is my ever first time I see a green walnut.
The green exterior of the walnut, that fleshy outer layer, is popularly known as the "husk" or "hull." Its function is crucial: to protect the developing walnut from the elements and insects while the seed and its hard, woody shell form inside. When autumn comes, this covering splits open and turns dark, revealing the prized nut.
That picture was taken at orchard of Abarán.
