September'26 Theme Day. Travel.
The proposed Theme Day by CityDailyPhoto community is 'Travel'.
Well, this is a moment in a travel. Region of Murcia to Saint Charles is about 7500 km (4600 miles) long. Quite long.
About the sign:
The top section features the inscription "1821 - Missouri - 1921," commemorating Missouri's centennial as a state of the Union, along with the motto: "Nor North, nor South, nor East, nor West, but part of each, of each the best."
The plaque indicates that the headquarters of the two Spanish commandants of the Saint Charles district, Louis Blanchette and Charles Tayon, were located on this 'Block Number Twenty'.
It also marks the exact site of the home where Louis Blanchette lived and died (1769–1793); he was the first settler, a French-Canadian explorer under service of Spain, and the founder of the settlement of Les Petites Côtes (present-day Saint Charles).
This monument was placed on October 5, 1921, by the Missouri State Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
