The Corner of the Region of Murcia that Seems Frozen in Time: Discovering Cehegín
Just a stone's throw from the famous Caravaca de la Cruz, in the heart of the Northwest region, this gem of the Region of Murcia preserves, amidst its steep streets, echoes of the Knights Templar, the Order of Santiago, and centuries of history carved in stone.
The church dominating the skyline in the center of the image is the Main Church of Santa María de la Magdalena, an imposing Baroque structure crowning the hill of the old town. (We will take a closer look at this building in future posts.)
Additionally, just to the left of the church, one can glimpse the distinctive white arches of the "Soportales" (arcades) at Plaza del Castillo (Castle Square), which date back to the 18th century. (More details to follow in future posts.)
That picture was taken from Paseo de la Concepción (Promenade of La Concepción) viewpoint.
